Today, I've decided to make a pasta dish that can be considered healthy (sort of) ^_^ the key ingredient would be Basil Leaves.

Ingredients:

340g Whole Wheat Fusilli
50g Fresh Basil Leaves
5 cloves of Garlic
Bits of Sausage and Majestic Ham
Salt
Olive Oil

Steps: (Pasta)

 - Boil 4 liters of water, add in the pasta. Boil for 8 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Steps: (Pesto)

- Chop/Slice the Basil Leaves (w/o the stems). Chopping the leaves would make it easier to Purée in the blender.

- Chop the garlic.

- Combine the chopped Basil and Garlic in the blender, pour in the Olive Oil, add as much as you want.

- Blend everything until it becomes a puree or paste-like substance.

- Once it is done, saute the Basil puree, add more olive oil if you want. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt. (sauteing & adding salt will help preserve the Pesto)

Finishing Touch

- After preparing the Pesto, (once cool enough) store it in a container for future use. Leave 2 to 2 1/2 tablespoon of Pesto in the pan.

- Add in the bits of Ham and Sausage (for taste). Saute for 1 minute (or less if you like)

- Pour in the Pasta (the entire 340g) (yes, for us, 2 1/2 tablespoon full of Pesto is enough for 240g of Fusilli pasta) (You can add more if you like--depends on your taste) Mix well.

Now we're done! ^_^

- Top it with Parmesan cheese (and chopped nuts, if you like).

1 platter of 340g Fusilli Pasta is good for 4-5 hungry adults ^_^

I hope you'll like it! Enjoy! ^_^

I love pesto... pesto alone is fine with me. That's why my blog is named after it. ^_^
