Today, I received a very special message on Facebook. I won another contest. This time, it's a contest by the birthday celebrant, Smarla of Everyday Sweet Notes and 12 Baskets Bakeshop.

I won a chocolate cake, specially baked by Smarla, herself. We both agreed to meet at a coffee shop in Katipunan, QC.

When I got my prize, I was so eager to reach home, I wanted to see and taste the cake! Just imagining about the mouth watering chocolate cake inside the red box made me even more exited. When we got home, I immediately cut the plastic ribbon and opened the lid. Then there it was.....^____^

Even before I got the chance to take a picture, my dad had already scraped and tasted the chocolate frosting on the side (grrrrr :p) My mom asked, O, kumusta? Masarap? (So, how was is? Good?). My dad said yes, he like the chocolate. Hearing my dad's comment made me even more enticed to have that first bite.

And so I did! ^_^

The cake was....perfect. Promise! I am not exaggerating nor being biased. My parents even agreed with me (let's see what my sister and her bf think, when they arrive tomorrow) The cake had the "just right" factor. Compared with the other chocolate cakes that we've tasted (both expensive and inexpensive), this one had a mild sweetness in it. The chocolate was good, not too creamy nor bitter. Normally, I could only handle one slice (because of the sweetness), but this time I can have a second serving.

Yummy frosting! ^_^

Despite having the dense/packed image (and the weight), when I sliced it -- I felt it's softness. As if I were cutting into a sponge cake. It was moist well enough, and it does not crumble much when you slice into it (I even used a steak knife). (Smarla, are you sure this was your first time to bake???) ^_^

My grandmother who is not much of a cake fan, also loved it. My uncle did so, too. They asked for another slice for tomorrows dessert, but I said, No. ^_^ The rest is mine only! ^_^

....fine, maybe I could give them a thinner slice, tomorrow. ^_^

Now, we know where to buy good cakes for our occasions.

Again, thank you, Smarla! ^_^ and Happy Birthday! ^_^

And, gosh, you're so tall!

I hope I'll be as successful as Smarla was when she baked for the first time. :)
