Well, now is your chance because hidden in plain sight, at the heart of Ortigas lies a cleverly stylish treasure trove for foodies like me and <a href="http://www.theburpsociety.com/" target="_blank">The Burp Society</a>.<br />
<br />
Combining chic artistry, fashionable interior design, quality service and culinary ingenuity -- Cafe 1771 from the Chateau Group gives us an <i>au courant</i> taste of fine cuisine that most restaurants won't. Think of it as casual dining with a hint of first class <i>a la mode</i>.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
For a brief history the Chateau Group, Chateau 1771 originated in the late 90's as a French inspired restaurant located in Malate, Manila -- headed by Mr. Ricky Gutierrez and Chef Vicky Rose Pacheco. In the year 2010 they transferred to El Pueblo in Ortigas and re-named their establishment as Cafe 1771.<br />

<br />
A few days ago, my sister <a href="http://karenkeng.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Karen</a> and I were one of the lucky few to be invited to participate in the very first Burp Society's dinner meet-up at Cafe 1771.<br />
<br />
Getting there did not require much fuss as my sister is an excellent road navigator. When we got there we met 10 more foodies like us, namely: Frances, Norman, Mishi, David, Crystal, Kim, Sevy, Potchi, <a href="http://www.certifiedfoodies.com/" target="_blank">Mhel and Ken</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XeUD8mEG6ss/UNFToPqRqhI/AAAAAAAABmg/cEvpQL2L3YQ/s1600/IMG_0426.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XeUD8mEG6ss/UNFToPqRqhI/AAAAAAAABmg/cEvpQL2L3YQ/s320/IMG_0426.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The generous host heftily served our group with following:<br />
<i>NOTE: The majority of their dishes are good for sharing. </i><br />
<ul>
<li>Fried Squash Flowers @ php 280</li>
<li>Orange Pork Spareribs @ php 450</li>
<li>Salbacho Pizza @ php 450</li>
<li>Spicy Buffalo Wings w/ Blue Cheese Dip @ php 380 (from the Wine Bar Menu)</li>
<li>Oysters Rockefeller @ php 550 (from the Wine Bar Menu)</li>
<li>Organic Chicken in Potato Crust @ php 560 (from the Wine Bar Menu)</li>
<li>Wine Bar Burger plus Gruyere Cheese @ php 495 </li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L2sXE2VQfiQ/UNFSYG46fyI/AAAAAAAABjg/4U2NuUmBoJ8/s1600/IMG_0378.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L2sXE2VQfiQ/UNFSYG46fyI/AAAAAAAABjg/4U2NuUmBoJ8/s320/IMG_0378.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oMEujZnezEw/UNFStf4_OZI/AAAAAAAABkQ/Ah4UgELV6sA/s1600/IMG_0387.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oMEujZnezEw/UNFStf4_OZI/AAAAAAAABkQ/Ah4UgELV6sA/s320/IMG_0387.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Squash Flowers are deep fried and had a mild taste and is ideal for vegetarians and light eaters.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BeuvKMYl9xo/UNFS3vkvkvI/AAAAAAAABko/RWPZmhswLqY/s1600/IMG_0395.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BeuvKMYl9xo/UNFS3vkvkvI/AAAAAAAABko/RWPZmhswLqY/s320/IMG_0395.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Orange Pork Spareribs is sweet. If you prefer your food with fruity flavor then this is a must try. As for me, I personally prefer it without the orange. Fruits such as Orange technically alters my appetite, hence, lessening my food intake. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Lf3ihkVViOY/UNFS6znofDI/AAAAAAAABkw/XIOR2AKR5b4/s1600/IMG_0396.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Lf3ihkVViOY/UNFS6znofDI/AAAAAAAABkw/XIOR2AKR5b4/s320/IMG_0396.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Salbacho Pizza is a must try. I personally love it. It has thin crust and it is topped with Salami, Bacon, Chorizo, Mozzarella and Basil. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p1CAWJUKxio/UNFS_gL0CkI/AAAAAAAABk4/K55D-EcbmpY/s1600/IMG_0398.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p1CAWJUKxio/UNFS_gL0CkI/AAAAAAAABk4/K55D-EcbmpY/s320/IMG_0398.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The Buffalo Wings are also good. It is sweet and has a mild spiciness. It will remind you of your favorite buffalo wings/ chicken wings that are sold commercially in different parts of the metro.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dJKAqBluM6k/UNFTL1_tkdI/AAAAAAAABlY/W67TxzjBZ_g/s1600/IMG_0403.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dJKAqBluM6k/UNFTL1_tkdI/AAAAAAAABlY/W67TxzjBZ_g/s320/IMG_0403.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The baked oysters are good provided you eat it while it's hot/warm. Otherwise, it tends to be a bit chewy but still good. Very tasty!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MkB4froLoGo/UNFTY7IAQBI/AAAAAAAABl4/-fmsYyWPBAY/s1600/IMG_0416.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MkB4froLoGo/UNFTY7IAQBI/AAAAAAAABl4/-fmsYyWPBAY/s320/IMG_0416.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Organic Chicken tasted a bit ordinary. I found nothing special about it although I loved the potato chips. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NbgtpXXnrII/UNFTiGAOTnI/AAAAAAAABmQ/MTGvICh9f_M/s1600/IMG_0421.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NbgtpXXnrII/UNFTiGAOTnI/AAAAAAAABmQ/MTGvICh9f_M/s320/IMG_0421.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Now this is something to look forward to. Especially for burger lovers. This is my first time to experience eating a grilled burger with an actual bone marrow. The burger tasted good but I found it a bit dry and a bit salty. But given the fact that it is part of the Wine Bar menu and is ideally consumed with your favorite beer or wine -- then the saltiness is quite acceptable.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
For desserts we had:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Amandelle @ php 300</li>
<li>Some sort of Cheese Cake (I did not get the name)</li>
<li>Chocolate Opera Cake @ php 220</li>
<li>Rose Noire @ php 250</li>
<li>Some Brownies and Macarons</li>

The desserts are a must try! Especially, the Amandelle and the Rose Noire. I know you will love them so I'll just keep it to myself to keep you a bit excited and let you experience it yourself.<br />

How may times have you asked your mom or your nanny to cook you pasta but in the end get disappointed because the sauce did not taste as it should be?<br />
<br />
As a grownup, it's now easier to eat and buy what ever food you like. But in my case - being an OC - it's even harder to eat outside (i.e. restaurants) especially, when I worry about proper kitchen sanitation and food handling. I find it best to eat home cooked meals.<br />
<br />
That is why when our new cook arrived bearing her most remarkable pasta sauce recipe and ingredient, I was all over and buzzing about it. *wink*<br />
<br />
The secret ingredient is....<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><b>Holiday Spaghetti Meat Sauce</b> (or Hotdog Sauce). The only problem is, we are not entirely sure if you can buy this at our local grocery stores. As far as we know (correct me if I'm wrong) it is only available in areas like Cebu and Bacolod. The brand can't seem to fully penetrate Metro Manila. I wonder why?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZmXm6k0UTQg/UJpl6ABlVzI/AAAAAAAABfQ/6qmyJd4c1JY/s1600/IMG_0036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZmXm6k0UTQg/UJpl6ABlVzI/AAAAAAAABfQ/6qmyJd4c1JY/s320/IMG_0036.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NrK1eBkWORQ/UJpmAiUSlAI/AAAAAAAABfY/C3U1h7mgh0A/s1600/IMG_0037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NrK1eBkWORQ/UJpmAiUSlAI/AAAAAAAABfY/C3U1h7mgh0A/s320/IMG_0037.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-73rHbmc8bJw/UJpmJoEhD1I/AAAAAAAABfg/HyOgZ2DZfbU/s1600/IMG_0038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-73rHbmc8bJw/UJpmJoEhD1I/AAAAAAAABfg/HyOgZ2DZfbU/s320/IMG_0038.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r4yXw_Bvc5o/UJpmOQ-4N3I/AAAAAAAABfo/v9LGKc_mbKE/s1600/IMG_0039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r4yXw_Bvc5o/UJpmOQ-4N3I/AAAAAAAABfo/v9LGKc_mbKE/s320/IMG_0039.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
But this I can assure you, just follow our ingredients/recipe and you'll have a jolly time eating your favorite pasta. And so will you kids! ^_^<br />
<br />
The rest of our ingredients are as follows (see picture).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gTTKdpwSfb4/UJpmRLsHbNI/AAAAAAAABfw/XAq8P76em78/s1600/IMG_0040.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gTTKdpwSfb4/UJpmRLsHbNI/AAAAAAAABfw/XAq8P76em78/s320/IMG_0040.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
First, saute the garlic, onion and corned beef in almost half a stick of butter. (yum! ^_^). Then, pour in the 2 cans of Holiday Spaghetti Sauce.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Mix it a bit then add the Del Monte Spaghetti Sauce and the whole can of Carnation Evap. Mix it then add the Pre-cooked Pasta. Then mix it again until everything is even.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9MtOucBFAYk/UJpmrk_svDI/AAAAAAAABgg/7_vC5WdMwFE/s1600/IMG_0056.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9MtOucBFAYk/UJpmrk_svDI/AAAAAAAABgg/7_vC5WdMwFE/s320/IMG_0056.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
After that, transfer the mixture in a tin pan in preparation to be baked in the oven (350 deg). But since we do not have an oven, we used our Salad Master Electric Skillet which can be used to bake goods.<br />
<br />
Before baking, top the pasta mixture with 1 pack of Nestle All Purpose Cream and 1 whole Quick Melt Cheese. Grated.<br />
<br />

And the finished product is simply amazing. Rich and flavorful. But most importantly it will leave you buzzing with sweet childhood memories. *wink*<br />

Kimchi! I've learned to love it ever since our high school trip to South Korea back in the late 90's. The majority of our group and even the other students in our school would react negatively every time they smell our Korean schoolmates' lunch for that day --not knowing that behind that foul smelling aroma comes the delicious, mouth watering and addictive flavor.<br />
<br />
I gained wight because Kimchi makes me devour more rice. I can even eat it with bread. Sometimes we make Kimchi fried rice, Scrambled egg with chopped Kimchi, Kimchi Soup, etc. We just can't get enough of Kimchi. We love it. Same goes with other Korean food. That is why I'm excited with the latest event by Bellevue Manila. The Korean Fest on September 14 - 23, 2012.<br />
<br />
It's a 10 day festival that will showcase Korean food and art. But, that's not all. For all those who will avail of their Korean Buffet at the Cafe d'Asie from Sept 14-23, 2012, you will have a chance to WIN a round trip ticket to Korea, plus Bellevue Gift Certificates.<br />

by Jimmy Dy-liacco, DMM </div></div><div><div></div></div><div><div></div></div><div><div><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">STRESS RELIEF... Is salt bad for hypertensive? <br />
<br />
What is bad for hypertension is iodized salt, which is a fake salt. It is made up of only 3 synthetic chemicals, sodium, chloride, iodine. It does not melt in water (glistens like diamonds), does NOT melt in the body, does not melt in the kidneys, gives kidney stones, and raises blood pressure. However, it is the salt favored by the synthetic drug-based doctors who say it is very clean and sanitary, pointing to how white it is and how it glistens like diamonds. The fake salt is man-made in a factory. <br />
<br />
The true salt, which comes from the sea and dried under the sun and commonly called rock salt, has 72 natural minerals including natural sodium, chloride, iodine. It melts in water, melts in your body, melts in the kidneys, do not give kidney stones, and best of all brings down blood pressure and stops/prevents muscle cramps, numbness, tingling. If you </span> <span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">get muscle cramps in the lower legs at night, just take 1/2 teaspoon of rock salt and a glass of water, and the cramps with its horrific pain will be gone in 5 minutes. <br />
<br />
The highest BP that came my way was in a woman who had a BP of 240/140 and came to my house at 10:30 pm on what she said was a matter of "life and death" because the high BP was already giving her a crushing headache, especially the back of her head. She could not walk up the 6 shallow steps to my porch. Two men had to help her, one on each side, in addition to the cane that she needed to prop herself up. <br />
</span></div></div><div><div><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I muscle-tested her and found that underlying her BP of 240/140 and the crushing pain in the head, her body's water content was only 6% (normal is 75%), salt content was zero, potassium was 96% deficient, and cardiac output (blood flow from the heart) was only 40% (normal is 100%). So the blood supply to the head was 60% deficient. <br />
</span> </div></div><div><div><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I gave her one 6" long green 'sili' (hot pepper), 1 raw ripe 'saba' banana, 1/2 teaspoon of rock salt and 3 8-oz glasses of tap water. The sili was to normalize cardiac output and shoot blood to the head, the saba banana was for the potassium deficiency and to have food in the stomach because pepper will give a stomach ache if the stomach is empty, and the rock salt and the water were the first aid for her severe dehydration which was causing her arteries to be dry and stiff and her blood to be thick and sticky, because they were dehydrated. <br />
<br />
After 5 minutes, she said, "The pain in my head is gone." We took her BP, it was 115/75, and cardiac output was up to 100%. <br />
<br />
She walked out of the house to her car without the men helping her and without the cane. <br />
<br />
She has been taking 2.5 teaspoons of rock salt, 15 glasses of water, 6 saba bananas and 3 of the long pepper daily since then (beginning September 2009), and her BP and cardiac output have been normal since then. <br />
<br />
Two months later, in November, at a PCAM roundtable forum on hypertension in Club Filipino, she gave her testimony, followed by her brother who said that he grew 2 inches, because the salt and the water had refilled his compressed disc spaces in his vertebral column. The disc spaces had become compressed because they had become dehydrated since the fluid filling up these discs are 95% water. <br />
<br />
Why salt? Because without salt the body cannot retain water no matter how much water is drunk. You will still be dehydrated because you will just keep urinating and sweating the water out. <br />
<br />
This is not an isolated case. When BP is rising high but there is little or no headache but there is stiffness of shoulder and neck muscles, all you need to normalize the BP and remove the stiffness and the pain in 5 minutes is 1/2 teaspoon of rock salt and 3 glasses of water. If there is crushing pain in the head, it means blood supply to the head is lacking, and you will need the sili to normalize it and shoot blood to the head and remove the extreme pain. <br />

We were lucky enough to even experience being engulfed in a sea of clouds. Too bad our food was not ready yet. Otherwise, it would be a once in a lifetime experience to dine-in covered with fog.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The home-made longanisa was delicious as well as the Grilled Pork Chop w/ Rosemary. The Spicy Tuyo Pasta was very tasty. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The freshly brewed, home grown coffee and the Cucumber juice were both great.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

A few minutes ago, we had an early Christmas Eve dinner a Masferre. We had 2 tables reserved for 21 individuals. We even payed in advance.<br />
<br />
Here was the scenario:<br />
<br />
- On my way to the buffet table, my sister asked me to request some tissue paper/ paper table napkins. I told the waitress wearing a pink shirt. (<i>excuse me, may i request for some tissue/table napkin?</i>) Everything seemed okay because by the looks of it she and the other waitress behind the counter (wearing black) exchanged words regarding my request. But I waited for more than 15 minutes but the table napkin did not arrive.<br />
<br />
- I went back to the buffet table to get some tea, the waitress in pink was standing nearby and so I followed up the request (<i>"miss, uhm, where's the tissue...?</i>) , she again nodded and went to the counter to talk with the woman in black w/c I saw go inside the kitchen. I went back to our table and waited but still no tissue. And now I see the waitress in pink behind the buffet table.<br />
<br />
- When my sister went to get some more tea, she came back with a handful of table napkins. So I asked her where she got it and she told me that she only asked for it. "once" I got irritated and wondered, "are they ignoring my requests on purpose?" <br />
<br />
- Just to confirm, I waited and started thinking on how to do another request, just in time, my aunt who was beside me wanted some water and so I presented myself to ask for it. This time I got the attention of a small woman that looked very boyish. <i>("May I request for 3 glasses of water?</i>") She nodded....but again, I waited for 10 minutes and no water came. I looked at the counter and majority of the staff/crew were just there talking to each other. How hard is it to get 3 small glasses of water?<br />
<br />
- This time I told my mother (who was the one who made the reservation with the owner/manager) I explained what happened. I asked my dad to call the owner to express my concern. When she came and heard us, she apologized and explained that "maybe" her staff who were according to her are contractual, were tired or frantic/panicked by all of the nights work.<br />
<br />
HUH?! "again" how hard is it to get tissue paper/table napkin and 3 glasses of water?<br />
<br />
I personally did not feel any sincerity from her (the owner/manager). She did not even apologize (in behalf of the staff) to me but <i>spoke directly to the table. </i><br />
<br />
I think there was a 3rd incident where - at the buffet table - I was about to get some pasta and right there and then, a different waitress quickly took the pasta away from the table. That time I thought that there must be something wrong with the spaghetti for them to take it away. But now that I've thought about it, I could say that it's a part of it...maybe a sinister plan against me? Why?<br />
<br />
Because yesterday, we were also supposed to dine there. But my mom already had a reservation at Haddeku and our guide (as agreed earlier) was supposed to cancel but forgot to do it. And so, there was no choice but to proceed with Haddeku because the buffet was already prepared specially for our group.<br />
<br />
But during that time, most of our family was already inside Masferre and by the time the rest of us got there, I was the one who told everyone (who was inside--sitting-- Masferre) about the predicament and that we have to leave and proceed with our previous reservation with Haddeku.<br />
<br />
So, paranoid as I may seem, this is the only logical evidence/reason I can think of. They "maybe", thought that I cost them their earnings for that night. Because before we left, a staff called my mom's attention and told us that because of us/ our group, they rejected an earlier reservation by foreigners, and that we have to tell/ explain to the owner.<br />
<br />
Tonight, when we left Masferre, that boyish looking woman was at the door and even had the guts to stare at me eye to eye...None of the staff came and apologized. <br />
<br />
Thank you for ruining my Christmas Eve.<br />
<br />
Oh and by the way, just to show some spirit of Christmas, I have to admit--in all honesty-- that their food was actually okay. I would have enjoyed every bit of it and would have had a fantastic time if it were not for Masferre's ill mannered staff/crew.Santelmohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07760306360306401976noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3214129288644738696.post-70525871774731642102011-10-31T14:02:00.000+08:002011-10-31T14:02:32.155+08:00Ba Noi's<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-peQBD056MV4/Tq44vMTgz3I/AAAAAAAABQU/s7uwitT1Db4/s1600/IMG_3964.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-peQBD056MV4/Tq44vMTgz3I/AAAAAAAABQU/s7uwitT1Db4/s320/IMG_3964.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Being a foodie and a group buying addict, my dad bought 2 coupons for a Vietnamese restaurant called Ba Noi's located in Makati. The promo offers 4 dishes.<br />
<br />
Fried Spring Rolls (Php 190)<br />
Chicken in Cellophane Noodle Soup (Php 195)<br />
Chicken in Caramel Sauce (Php 240)<br />
Stir Fried Water Spinach (Php 90) <br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
And I must say, we were not completely satisfied with the food. Having tasted the flavors of <a href="http://www.pinoymuffintop.com/2010/10/bawai-vietnamese-kitchen-tagaytay.html">Bawai's</a> and Pho Hoa, our taste-buds expects similar quality or even better. The menu served with the promo completely lacks interesting flavors. Everything tasted bland and quite ordinary. Maybe because the prices were cut into half by the group buying site that the quality of the food were affected??? I had high hopes especially after seeing the 2 awards displayed at their entrance.<br />
<br />
The Fried Spring Rolls tasted like plain ground pork that needs more seasoning. Even with the dipping sauce (w/c was quite salty) the rolls were still unsatisfactory. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-i0UzojPBHqw/Tq440nqIXHI/AAAAAAAABQ8/kzQoW--hId0/s1600/IMG_3969.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-i0UzojPBHqw/Tq440nqIXHI/AAAAAAAABQ8/kzQoW--hId0/s320/IMG_3969.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The Chicken in Cellophane Noodle Soup tasted like a regular chicken sotanghon soup that needs more salt. If it weren't for the hoisin paste, the soup would have been a complete disaster.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U1RspY1rcj8/Tq441pDx2YI/AAAAAAAABRM/LGtBqPSuvzc/s1600/IMG_3971.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U1RspY1rcj8/Tq441pDx2YI/AAAAAAAABRM/LGtBqPSuvzc/s320/IMG_3971.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The Chicken in Caramel Sauce was quite ordinary, though it was okay, I found nothing interesting about it. And the serving size was too small! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-27g0he8vTgI/Tq442Peg_EI/AAAAAAAABRU/r8WVtjr5Elg/s1600/IMG_3972.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-27g0he8vTgI/Tq442Peg_EI/AAAAAAAABRU/r8WVtjr5Elg/s320/IMG_3972.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The Stir Fried Water Spinach was also ordinary.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wykzI8AMNP0/Tq442qwZb-I/AAAAAAAABRc/dn5OeVJejtM/s1600/IMG_3973.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wykzI8AMNP0/Tq442qwZb-I/AAAAAAAABRc/dn5OeVJejtM/s320/IMG_3973.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Really, I'm guessing it's due to the price-cut brought by the group buying scheme that the food quality was greatly affected???<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-48-Bdm9r3os/Tq443O0htYI/AAAAAAAABRk/Opf8P2KMy-U/s1600/IMG_3974.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-48-Bdm9r3os/Tq443O0htYI/AAAAAAAABRk/Opf8P2KMy-U/s320/IMG_3974.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rJKWZ96r7W4/Tq44yZEw1BI/AAAAAAAABQs/b9ffwNbJzGo/s1600/IMG_3967.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rJKWZ96r7W4/Tq44yZEw1BI/AAAAAAAABQs/b9ffwNbJzGo/s320/IMG_3967.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DKipvwO6uk8/Tq44zf7AqbI/AAAAAAAABQ0/gLJBVmrBcZM/s1600/IMG_3968.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DKipvwO6uk8/Tq44zf7AqbI/AAAAAAAABQ0/gLJBVmrBcZM/s320/IMG_3968.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BXykO03Y4gw/Tq44wG8gONI/AAAAAAAABQc/vwzqOw4okYM/s1600/IMG_3965.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BXykO03Y4gw/Tq44wG8gONI/AAAAAAAABQc/vwzqOw4okYM/s320/IMG_3965.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hmeANTTPAIc/Tq45nGPuRBI/AAAAAAAABRs/TRnlh_O6SU4/s1600/banoi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hmeANTTPAIc/Tq45nGPuRBI/AAAAAAAABRs/TRnlh_O6SU4/s320/banoi.jpg" width="209" /></a></div><br />

Another great Milk Tea place is located at Wilson St cor. P. Guevarra in GreenHills. From becoming No.1 in Taipei, I'm sure, pretty soon this will also be a great contender against the other Tea shops here in the Philippines.<br />
<br />
Luckily, last night on our way home, I happen to spot the very 1st branch and we decided to try it. They've just had their grand launching 2 weeks ago.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
We ordered:<br />
<br />
Taiwan classic pearl Milk Tea that has a very mild taste that is ideal for people who want it simple yet refreshingly good.<br />
<br />
Hokkaido pearl milk tea (just like the others) always reminds us of the beach. It has a hint of coconut and the aroma that also reminds me of Coppertone. Indeed, Hokkaido flavor will always be on our favorite list.<br />
<br />
A new flavor the also became our favorite is the QQ happy family milk tea. It has different toppings and simply taste amazing. Wintermelon no longer remains my No.1 ^_^<br />

Just recently, our family have agreed to hold a small get together at least once a month. Weather complete or incomplete, we will dine at a restaurant after a Sunday's worship or have a potluck<br />
<br />
Last Sunday, we decided to try the signature dishes of Terry's at their branch in Podium.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
For appetizer, we ordered:<br />
<br />
Jamon Iberico (Php 290 / 6 pcs)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qiB8Gsm5xtI/TqFtT09XnhI/AAAAAAAABNA/KSUxzRUuWeI/s1600/DSC09016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qiB8Gsm5xtI/TqFtT09XnhI/AAAAAAAABNA/KSUxzRUuWeI/s320/DSC09016.jpg" width="320" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2Jvon5K4sk/TqFtXTSQ40I/AAAAAAAABNY/fnU07jH_mII/s1600/DSC09019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2Jvon5K4sk/TqFtXTSQ40I/AAAAAAAABNY/fnU07jH_mII/s320/DSC09019.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
The tender meat, flavored with mild saltiness was a perfect combination with the crunchy Croquettes. <br />
<br />
For the soup, we ordered:<br />
<br />
Pumpkin Soup (Php 180)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0ZJAOSYs7EY/TqFtY4HWhgI/AAAAAAAABNo/nd3KeYRv7Kk/s1600/DSC09022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0ZJAOSYs7EY/TqFtY4HWhgI/AAAAAAAABNo/nd3KeYRv7Kk/s320/DSC09022.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The combination of Pumpkin and Saffron was perfect. The mild creaminess of the soup reminded me of the ones we make when my dad was hospitalized and was not allowed to eat anything but soup. <br />
<br />
Tomato Soup (Php 180)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qJcpFNlQobk/TqFtZ5pyYpI/AAAAAAAABNw/C9uqSWx7m58/s1600/DSC09023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qJcpFNlQobk/TqFtZ5pyYpI/AAAAAAAABNw/C9uqSWx7m58/s320/DSC09023.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The creamy tomato soup was great. Especially, with the basil leaf and sun-dried tomato. It's not too sour, just right.<br />
<br />
Codfish Bouillabaisse (Php 280)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_EfIulIAWzU/TqFtYA2RYxI/AAAAAAAABNg/Nmhv0SGR64M/s1600/DSC09020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_EfIulIAWzU/TqFtYA2RYxI/AAAAAAAABNg/Nmhv0SGR64M/s320/DSC09020.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This dish reminded me and my sister of the time when we got invited to attend a bloggers event at <a href="http://www.pinoymuffintop.com/2011/05/discover-cuisine-exclusive-bloggers.html">Enderun College</a>. One of the head chefs demonstrated on how to make a Bouillabaisse. <br />
<br />
After tasting Terry's version, I have to agree with my sister that this is way better. I can really taste the richness of every flavor, and it's a good thing because I know how tedious it is to make this soup.<br />
<br />
For the main course, we ordered:<br />
<br />
Rabo de Toro en Chilindron (Php 645)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1K7htUVRBGY/TqFtgLF03VI/AAAAAAAABOQ/Xz3-akViuI8/s1600/DSC09028.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1K7htUVRBGY/TqFtgLF03VI/AAAAAAAABOQ/Xz3-akViuI8/s320/DSC09028.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The stewed Ox tail (w/o skin) with Jamon Serrano, fresh and sun-dried vegetables and red wine was delicious.<br />
<br />
Chuletillas de Cordero (Php 595)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ybm-eXexsIQ/TqFtdpkOFVI/AAAAAAAABOI/YiWYrSB5U5w/s1600/DSC09027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ybm-eXexsIQ/TqFtdpkOFVI/AAAAAAAABOI/YiWYrSB5U5w/s320/DSC09027.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The baby lamb cutlets with Piquillo peppers stuffed with mashed ingredients like Asturian smoked black sausages with red wine was excellent. <br />
<br />
Duck Confit (Php 795)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kCrZT8uiurs/TqFtjb_PcII/AAAAAAAABOg/1o_4XKWn8uo/s1600/DSC09031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kCrZT8uiurs/TqFtjb_PcII/AAAAAAAABOg/1o_4XKWn8uo/s320/DSC09031.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The duck leg with red berry-shallots, Pinot Noir sauce and Salardise potatoes cooked in herbs was to die for. It was really good. I would order this again.<br />
<br />
Callos a la Adaluza (Php 370)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z-_HIH5ZoNA/TqFtcOGPjNI/AAAAAAAABOA/Cz_t9oLY1Bc/s1600/DSC09025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z-_HIH5ZoNA/TqFtcOGPjNI/AAAAAAAABOA/Cz_t9oLY1Bc/s320/DSC09025.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This was my second time to try Callos, the first was w/o internal organs and it was okay. This one on the other hand is exemplary. The Ox tripe was well cooked so it was easy to chew. <br />
<br />
Super-Paella Parellada (Php 740)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7W0Nqdx-G-Y/TqFthfUJvvI/AAAAAAAABOY/JF_4bX0Whi8/s1600/DSC09029.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7W0Nqdx-G-Y/TqFthfUJvvI/AAAAAAAABOY/JF_4bX0Whi8/s320/DSC09029.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
One of my all-time favorite Spanish dishes is Paella. I've tasted several from different restaurants and I must say that Terry's version is one of the best.<br />
<br />
For desert we ordered:<br />
<br />
Flan de la Abuela (Php 120)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0-zIuulDv14/TqFtlV6-r5I/AAAAAAAABOo/6S2h4AdW-48/s1600/DSC09033.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0-zIuulDv14/TqFtlV6-r5I/AAAAAAAABOo/6S2h4AdW-48/s320/DSC09033.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Tasted just like my grandma's Leche Flan! Sweet and creamy perfection! The family's all time favorite desert. ^_^<br />
<br />
Marquesa de Chocolate (Php 195)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qcj8x6SKDvU/TqFtmSP4izI/AAAAAAAABOw/XBuEYSI3JIs/s1600/DSC09034.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qcj8x6SKDvU/TqFtmSP4izI/AAAAAAAABOw/XBuEYSI3JIs/s320/DSC09034.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is chocolate heaven. It's like eating chocolate ice cream that is also a combination of melted chocolate bars. The taste reminded me of Royce. I am missing it already. It's like I can finish two orders all by my self. ^_^<br />
<br />
All in all, I can say that Terry's is one of the best gourmet store/restaurant in the metro. If you want authentic Spanish dishes, then head to their branches. My only negative comment is that, they should make the serving size much bigger!<br />
<br />

Today, our entire family was stuck at home due to Typhoon Pedring. The cold wind and heavy rain yesterday made me feel sick. Taking cold medicine did not do much for me, but I found a solution. That is to drink Tea...Milk Tea!!! ^_^ Somehow, instantly my sneezing stopped for a while. *sigh* ^_^ Don't you just love the wonders of milk tea? ^_^<br />
<br />
Another affordable drink in the market is Lipton's 3-in-1 Instant Milk Tea. It's easy to prepare. Just dissolve one pack/sachet in a cup of hot water. You can opt to add ice cubes to make it into a cold drink. The black tea based tea combined with milk and sugar makes a perfect blend.<br />

For Milk Tea addicts like me and my sister <a href="http://karenkeng.blogspot.com/">Karen</a>, Mine Shine can be considered a life saver. When all the Tea Shops are closed, one can only depend on "Instant Milk Tea" ^_^ This is currently and only available in 7-11 convenient stores for only Php 40. It's nothing compared with Serenitea and Moon Leaf but during late hours when you start craving for some milk tea, Mine Shine is the answer. ^_^Santelmohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07760306360306401976noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3214129288644738696.post-88433300072582117142011-09-27T19:02:00.001+08:002011-10-02T18:37:02.608+08:00Moon Leaf Tea Shop<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MxfamJp8ueo/ToGs1VL1hfI/AAAAAAAABLk/VwN8qAQZjPo/s1600/DSC08933.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MxfamJp8ueo/ToGs1VL1hfI/AAAAAAAABLk/VwN8qAQZjPo/s320/DSC08933.jpg" width="240" /></a></div> <br />
For now, this is probably on the top of my favorite tea shop list. The best seller, Winter Melon Milk Tea has a rich creamy flavor.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Creamier than the other brands. Although, you might want to lower the sugar level because at 100% your drink will be extra sweet compared with the normal level of <a href="http://www.pinoymuffintop.com/2011/05/serenitea-eastwood-libis.html">Serenitea</a> and <a href="http://www.pinoymuffintop.com/2011/07/cha-dao-tea-place-katipunan.html">ChaDao</a>. The price is quite cheap like the ones of <a href="http://www.pinoymuffintop.com/2011/07/cha-dao-tea-place-katipunan.html">ChaDao</a>.<br />
<br />
You can find MoonLeaf Tea Shop in Maginhawa Street and in Katipunan.<br />

</div><div class="data_field"><b>Beef Stew Magnifico (php180)</b></div><div class="data_field">This dish was quite disappointing. Maybe because we were used to the taste of our own version and the classic one we used to order in a fast food chain. Remember "Kimchi"? But this particular order would not compare to what we were accustomed with. It lacked in the aspects of: Flavor, Spice, and Aroma. We might not order it again because we found nothing special nor interesting about it except for its name, presentation and price (oh! it's expensive, it must be good!) ^_^ The taste was actually bland. The number of cases are increasing at an alarming rate. Every year this is one of our country’s biggest problems. DENGUE VIRUS!</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The season/weather isn’t even helping. With the constant rain, stagnant water can be found all over, and those are only the visible ones, there are also the hidden stagnant waters where more and more Dengue carrying mosquitoes are propagating.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">There is only so much that we could do to stop the Dengue cases from increasing. At home we’ve started burning dead leaves, and wood to produce smoke that hopefully would drive the Dengue Mosquito a.k.a. the <span class="st">Aedes Aegypti away. But no matter how much smoke we make, we still find those pests inside our home and in our bedrooms.</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />

I found instructions on how to make a home made mosquito trap by using stuff that we can find mostly in our kitchen such as: empty plastic bottles, sugar, hot water and yeast.</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal"><span class="st"><span lang="EN-US">With this—if the experiment is true—hopefully it would attract the mosquitoes by producing Carbon Dioxide and trap and drown them inside the bottles.</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br />

<span lang="EN-US">1. First you must cut the top of the bottle (try to measure it so it would fit upside down inside the bottle)</span><br />

<span lang="EN-US">2. Mix/dilute the 200ml hot water in the measuring cup/bottle with the 50gram brown sugar. Before adding the Yeast, make sure that the water is warm and will not exceed 40 degrees Celsius (use the Thermometer). Otherwise it might kill the Yeast. What I did was to blow on it (it was easy because 200ml was less than a cup of water) then tested the water 5 times.</span><br />

<span lang="EN-US">*** When yeast ferments, it will create Carbon Dioxide that will attract mosquitoes.</span><br />

<span lang="EN-US">Carbon dioxide will be released from the small opening of the bottle. Mosquitoes will enter and get trapped inside and hopefully drown in the sticky substance.</span><br />
<br />
<span lang="EN-US">4. Mosquitoes love dark places, so it would be best to cover the bottle with any dark colored paper. If you don’t have black you can use two layers of news paper just like what I did. Then place the trap somewhere dark like the corners of your house.</span><br />

One of our favorite desserts is the very healthy and nutritious "Yogurt". That is why for the past few years, my sister is excited to receive her copy of a planner which has free coupons in it. And one of them are coupons for a free cup of White Hat yogurt.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Most of the time I order it plain and simple. I prefer to enjoy the mild sourness of the yogurt.<br />
<br />
As we grew up we could not afford real yogurt so my parents opted to try its cheaper cousin--Yakult. It has the same benefits. The Probiotics.<br />
<br />
We were told that Yogurt is great of us because: <br />
<br />
- It has <i>Lactobacillus</i> which is great for our digestive system.<br />
- It has Vitamins B and C. <br />
- It is rich in Calcium that strengthens your bones.<br />
<br />
- Yogurt also strengthens your immune system to help you fight infectious diseases.<br />
<div style="overflow: hidden;"><br />
</div>Those that are born lactose intolerant can enjoy the healthy benefits of yogurt because fermenting milk (Yogurt) breaks down milk protein that are difficult to digest for those with the said condition. Even nursing moms and elderly are encouraged to enjoy a cup of Yogurt once in a while.<br />
<br />
And so, when you are at the mall, instead of getting yourself fat with regular ice cream why not try a cup of healthy Yogurt? ^_^<br />

A few months ago while scouting for new real estate properties in Don Antonio, my family and I decided to try this Korean restaurant that was suggested by my friend. After a few minutes, we found what we were looking for. It turns out that this place was a bit hidden from the main road.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
When we got there, I found the place was pretty much Filipino inspired because all the <i>bahay kubo's</i> (Nipa Huts) that was used as private dining areas instead of the usual bare tables, and where everyone could see you eating. We were going to eat al fresco, although I would have preferred to eat in an air conditioned room but that area is no longer available.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-23Unz5TGK9s/TiGr2Wje_2I/AAAAAAAABIU/qvUCUqU6p-c/s1600/IMG_2651.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-23Unz5TGK9s/TiGr2Wje_2I/AAAAAAAABIU/qvUCUqU6p-c/s320/IMG_2651.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g3kKX_f4wWA/TiGr3kTU30I/AAAAAAAABIY/eNP8eCeC5xM/s1600/IMG_2652.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g3kKX_f4wWA/TiGr3kTU30I/AAAAAAAABIY/eNP8eCeC5xM/s320/IMG_2652.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FDN_U1xChQ0/TiGr4zTYWJI/AAAAAAAABIc/xRkUqNvWXO8/s1600/IMG_2653.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FDN_U1xChQ0/TiGr4zTYWJI/AAAAAAAABIc/xRkUqNvWXO8/s320/IMG_2653.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Since it's only for a snack, we only ordered:<br />
<ul style="margin-top: 0cm;" type="disc"><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;">Samgyupsal and</li>
<li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt;">Japchae </li>
</ul>And it's a good thing too, because they have an "eat all you can" appetizers! We were even told that others only order one dish and just devour all the appetizers they can.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sfddBWfE3SI/TiGr5lw6V9I/AAAAAAAABIg/XulgUx3a1wU/s1600/IMG_2655.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sfddBWfE3SI/TiGr5lw6V9I/AAAAAAAABIg/XulgUx3a1wU/s320/IMG_2655.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Aside from that, they also gave us FREE Pineapple shakes. ^_^ <br />

We are a huge fan of Samgyubsal! Pork! We love it's mild taste, the way it is <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/external/readwriteweb/2011/03/09/09readwriteweb-zaarly-is-this-the-future-of-mobile-money-a-57559.html">cooked</a> (where the customer gets to cook it) and the way it is eaten. You wrap the pork in Lettuce. One can even add rice and spices in it to add more taste. One order of 400g is good for 2persons.<br />
Php 500<br />
<br />

The Japchae is another favorite. It's a Korean version of <i>pancit bihon. </i>Only this time, it has a mild sweetness in it. <i> </i>The noodles are cooked with vegetables and pork and Korean seasoning. One order is enough for 2 persons.<br />
Php 400<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yQeF6T98j4o/TiGr8MZj1OI/AAAAAAAABIs/cZZWO4fxwDY/s1600/IMG_2660.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yQeF6T98j4o/TiGr8MZj1OI/AAAAAAAABIs/cZZWO4fxwDY/s320/IMG_2660.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I love their grill. We have been planning on buying one since we're all addicted to Samgyubsal. I wonder if I could find one for sale in an online <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/external/readwriteweb/2011/03/09/09readwriteweb-zaarly-is-this-the-future-of-mobile-money-a-57559.html">marketplace</a> or at <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/external/readwriteweb/2011/03/09/09readwriteweb-zaarly-is-this-the-future-of-mobile-money-a-57559.html">Zaarly</a>.<br />

We would definitely return to this place. A true authentic Korean restaurant. A hidden treasure. And one day, hopefully, we could make our own Samgyupsal at home.Santelmohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07760306360306401976noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3214129288644738696.post-29666621293440693972011-07-12T21:21:00.000+08:002011-07-12T21:21:54.515+08:00The Cookie Jar - French Macarons<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6ARXg0_aK0M/ThxIlqBo0pI/AAAAAAAABIE/D9741pf6gks/s1600/IMG_3314.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6ARXg0_aK0M/ThxIlqBo0pI/AAAAAAAABIE/D9741pf6gks/s320/IMG_3314.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Thanks to my sister <a href="http://karenkeng.blogspot.com/">Karen</a>, who purchased a box of 1 dozen French Macarons at a discounted price from a group buying site. We got it for only Php165 (from Php 335).<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
This reminded me of a childhood treat called Merengue but only better. <a href="http://www.thecookiejarph.multiply.com/">The Cookie Jar's</a> French Macarons is mildly sweet with different flavors such as: Red Velvet, Chocolate, Vanilla Buttercream, Lemon, Pistachio, Mint Chocolate. It will instantly melt in your mouth. I loved the Red Velvet, it really tasted like the cake. ^_^<br />

I wish they could mixed all flavors in our box. I would like to try Pistachio and Mint Chocolate. I'm sure my sister would also agree.<br />
