Terry's - The Gourmet Store
Just recently, our family have agreed to hold a small get together at least once a month. Weather complete or incomplete, we will dine at a restaurant after a Sunday's worship or have a potluck
Last Sunday, we decided to try the signature dishes of Terry's at their branch in Podium.
For appetizer, we ordered:
Jamon Iberico (Php 290 / 6 pcs)
The tender meat, flavored with mild saltiness was a perfect combination with the crunchy Croquettes.
For the soup, we ordered:
Pumpkin Soup (Php 180)
The combination of Pumpkin and Saffron was perfect. The mild creaminess of the soup reminded me of the ones we make when my dad was hospitalized and was not allowed to eat anything but soup.
Tomato Soup (Php 180)
The creamy tomato soup was great. Especially, with the basil leaf and sun-dried tomato. It's not too sour, just right.
Codfish Bouillabaisse (Php 280)
This dish reminded me and my sister of the time when we got invited to attend a bloggers event at Enderun College. One of the head chefs demonstrated on how to make a Bouillabaisse.
After tasting Terry's version, I have to agree with my sister that this is way better. I can really taste the richness of every flavor, and it's a good thing because I know how tedious it is to make this soup.
For the main course, we ordered:
Rabo de Toro en Chilindron (Php 645)
The stewed Ox tail (w/o skin) with Jamon Serrano, fresh and sun-dried vegetables and red wine was delicious.
Chuletillas de Cordero (Php 595)
The baby lamb cutlets with Piquillo peppers stuffed with mashed ingredients like Asturian smoked black sausages with red wine was excellent.
Duck Confit (Php 795)
The duck leg with red berry-shallots, Pinot Noir sauce and Salardise potatoes cooked in herbs was to die for. It was really good. I would order this again.
Callos a la Adaluza (Php 370)
This was my second time to try Callos, the first was w/o internal organs and it was okay. This one on the other hand is exemplary. The Ox tripe was well cooked so it was easy to chew.
Super-Paella Parellada (Php 740)
One of my all-time favorite Spanish dishes is Paella. I've tasted several from different restaurants and I must say that Terry's version is one of the best.
For desert we ordered:
Flan de la Abuela (Php 120)
Tasted just like my grandma's Leche Flan! Sweet and creamy perfection! The family's all time favorite desert. ^_^
Marquesa de Chocolate (Php 195)
This is chocolate heaven. It's like eating chocolate ice cream that is also a combination of melted chocolate bars. The taste reminded me of Royce. I am missing it already. It's like I can finish two orders all by my self. ^_^
All in all, I can say that Terry's is one of the best gourmet store/restaurant in the metro. If you want authentic Spanish dishes, then head to their branches. My only negative comment is that, they should make the serving size much bigger!
