Our family loves to eat, so, when my other grandma came home from Abu Dhabi, we finally decided to check out the popular Mercato Centrale. We got there around 8 am, and it was already jam-packed! Vacant tables were scarce!
There was a lot of food. We did not know where to start or what to order. We did some taste testing, but still decided to try what my sister suggested.
All five of us, except for my sister who thinks it was delicious, was not satisfied with this order. I personally think it lacks flavor or salt for that matter. We all agreed that we mostly tasted -- sourness. The Bagnet skin was quite hard and not crunchy.
We also bought vegetable lumpia. While waiting for our orders, the owner overheard us talking about the small Chinese restaurant in Binondo, and she confirmed that it belonged to her grandfather.
Indeed, the taste was the same. It was delicious! So we ordered some more to bring home. ^_^
Outside, we found a small table and decided to share it amongst seven of us. While eating, we saw a walking vendor that sells sugar free, fresh fruit juices in plastic bottles. We all bought the watermelon juice--since it was hot inside the tent that day.
It was very refreshing and was quite sweet. So, we doubted if it was really sugar-free ^_^ or maybe, they use sugar alternatives?
Fore dessert, we had some Mochiko. I tried the Azuki (Red Bean) flavor and was not satisfied with it. Maybe, because I prefer it sweet and much creamier. The Azuki tasted bland and dull. My sister tried the Green Tea, for her it was good, for me it was okay....
Next time I would like to try the Strawberry and the Caramelo flavor. I hope they would be better than Red Bean.
Before heading home, my mom bought two boxes of Sugar-free cakes. They were good. Tasted like normal cakes--with sugar. ^_^
I would like to go back to Mercato and try the other concessionaires. Hopefully, by then, we would be able to get a decent table ^_^
